Community Support

If you're a member of a club, group or society there are lots of ways you can support Dogs for the Disabled.

Working Together - Changing Lives

In every town or village, down a street somewhere near you, there is almost certainly someone that could benefit from the life changing effects of an assistance dog trained by Dogs for the Disabled.

8 dogs in training with childWe want to be able to help more disabled adults and children to live an increased and fulfilled life, but we need your help. Perhaps you hold an annual dog show or sponsored walk.

How you can help …

Golf Clubs

members of studley wood golf clubStudley Wood Golf Club raised a staggering £18,000 for Dogs for the Disabled after we became chosen charity for the year by their ladies captain. A visit from a local partnership helped all the members to really get behind the cause and the club held golf days, raffles and a charity dinner to reach an amazing total. The money raised helped to support their local partnership and sponsor a new dog right the way through their training.

Schools

Puppy PurchaseChildren at The Kingsley School in Warwickshire learnt all about assistance dogs when a puppy socialiser went to visit with her latest young pup. The children heard about the different types of task work a dog for the disabled can perform, how disability can affect a person and what you should do if you meet an assistance dog in the street. After the visit, teachers and school children decided they wanted to help Dogs for the Disabled and raised £500 to Purchase a Puppy.

Community Volunteer Groups

The Rotary Club of Swindon Old Town wanted to find out more about Dogs for the Disabled after reading about the charity’s work in the local paper. Joint fundraising events throughout the year by all the members of the group has resulted in them raising £4,000 to help support the charity.

As part of your support, you may like to find out more about the help we provide and how our dogs are trained.
