Dogs for the Disabled gets Wellbeloved support

One of the UK’s most effective and life-changing charities, Dogs for the Disabled, is getting a welcome helping hand from top pet food firm James Wellbeloved. Their partnership, which will be announced at DFS Crufts 2010, will enable Dogs for the Disabled to create greater awareness of its work, and raise vitally needed money.

Dogs for the Disabled trains assistance dogs to help children and adults with disabilities lead fuller, more independent lives. For some, this means physical help around the house and while out and about, thus giving them real independence, while for others, such as children with autism, it means providing an ever-reliable canine friend to help make sense of a confusing world. Each dog is trained individually to meet its’ new owners needs, so that it becomes a true partner in life.

James Wellbeloved makes totally natural, naturally hypoallergenic complete dry foods for dogs (and cats!), and has already been the official food supplier for Dogs for the Disabled puppies and dogs in training for the past year.

Marketing director Peter Lancaster says: “We’ve always been so impressed by the work that Dogs for the Disabled does, and it is a great pleasure to work with them. It seems that everyone who comes across the organisation goes away saying ‘wow!’ and we now want to help spread the message even further.”

To that end, James Wellbeloved will be supporting the Dogs for the Disabled Display Team, who are always hugely popular at major events such as DFS Crufts and Discover Dogs, and will now be sporting smart new James Wellbeloved uniforms. As well as providing food for puppies, dogs in training and fully qualified working assistance dogs, Dogs for the Disabled training staff will be able to draw on the experience of James Wellbeloved’s nutritional advisers.

Peter Gorbing is the Chief Executive of Dogs for the Disabled, and he comments: “As a charity we recently celebrated our 21st birthday – 21 years of changing lives for the better. As we have evolved, we have learnt new ways in which assistance dogs can help children and adults with disabilities, including our latest programme working with children with autism. Of course, it all costs! Therefore I am delighted that James Wellbeloved have committed themselves to helping us, and we look forward to a very long, happy and successful relationship which will in turn change even more lives.”
