We are delighted to be one of the chosen charities for the CLA Game Fair 2010, and we are now seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help promote the life-changing work of the charity to visitors to the show.
The Game Fair, which takes place from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th July at Ragley Hall near Alcester in Warwickshire, attracts around 100,000 visitors, so is a great opportunity for many people to learn about our work by seeing one of our demonstrations in the main arena, meeting some of our partnerships, or talking to volunteers and staff.
An assistance dog trained by Dogs for the Disabled performs practical tasks such as opening doors, helping a person undress or picking up hard to reach or dropped items such as keys, the post or a mobile phone. But an assistance dog offers far more than just practical help, becoming a social icebreaker, a reason to go out again, and bringing new found opportunities that many people thought would never be possible.
Game Fair volunteers are needed to help with collections, selling raffle tickets, taking silent auction bids, and helping out on the stand. As we rely entirely on donations to carry on our work, the money raised from this event really will make a difference.
If you can commit to helping for a day then please contact Stephanie Lawless, Community Fundraising Manager on 01295 252600 or stephanie.lawless@dogsforthedisabled.org
