Employees tackle cycle challenge and raise cash

Dogs for the Disabled has been presented with a cheque for £48,000 which will cover the costs of two lifelong partnerships between a dog and its owner.

The money was raised by vets, nurses and support staff from Companion Care Vets, based in Wantage, who cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats.

The company has chosen Dogs for the Disabled as its charity of the year and set off on their challenge on May 1st, cycling more than 900 miles over 12 days.

Peter Gorbing, chief executive of Dogs for the Disabled said,

“We are extremely grateful for the fundraising efforts of all the Companion Care staff involved.”

“It costs more than £19,000 to train, create and support a Dogs for the Disabled partnership throughout its lifetime.”

“The funds raised will truly transform the life of someone living with disability; providing them with confidence and independence that will open doors to fresh opportunities.”
