Family Fun Day has been cancelled

We are sorry to advise that the Family Fun Day scheduled for  Saturday 14th July  at our North of England Centre (Nostell, Wakefield) has been cancelled for 2012. We have made every effort to contact everyone involved with the event, however if you think you may know someone who has plans on going, please let them know.

Freemasons demonstrate continued support for Dogs for the Disabled with £25,000 grant

Dogs for the Disabled has received a major grant from The Freemasons’ Grand Charity totalling £25,000. This grant is being used to fund the PAWS (Parents, Autism, Workshops and Support) service for children with autism.

The PAWS programme provides workshops and training for parents highlighting the potential benefits of having a well-trained family dog for children with autism. The project helps families to choose the right pet dog for their requirements, as well as integrating their pet into family life.

Puppy sponsored in memory of charity’s founder

George Newns, President of Dogs for the Disabled and father of the charity’s founder Frances Hay, has donated £1,000 to sponsor a Dogs for the Disabled puppy in memory of his daughter’s inspirational story,  resulted in the charity being established in 1988. Read the story here.

Kim, a young black Labrador pup, has been named after Frances’s pet Belgian Shepherd who seemed to know instinctively when she needed help, and gave Frances the idea of training assistance dogs to help people …
