On Wednesday 23 May Bicester-based PaydayUK held a Big Dogs Breakfast for its staff to raise funds for Dogs for the Disabled.
Blessed by the glorious sunshine, the breakfast, that was organised and run by staff from the company, raised a total of £777.00 through selling bacon rolls and hot dogs that were cooked on a bbq, and a raffle which included fantastic prizes such as an iPad 3 and a widescreen TV.
The amount raised by the staff has been matched by PaydayUK taking the total to more than £1,500.
Stephanie Cook, the PaydayUK employee who organised the event, said: “We all really enjoyed meeting Ann Hanson and her assistance dog Dazzle. It was great to see how the funds raised will help people living with disability.” Stephanie continues: “It was a great day and everyone had fun. We were stunned by the amount of raffle tickets sold and everyone was really keen to support such a fantastic charity. We are really proud to have raised so much money; it is a great cause because the dogs have a really positive impact on people’s lives. We are looking forward to continuing to support Dogs for the Disabled and I would like to thank everyone who helped on the day.”
Peter Gorbing, Dogs for the Disabled Chief Executive, comments: “We are very grateful for the fundraising efforts of the staff at PaydayUK and glad to hear that their Big Dogs Breakfast event was a success. The funds raised will help us train more assistance dogs to help people that face challenges on a daily basis due to their disability, providing independence and companionship.”
Imagine not being able to do the simplest of tasks like picking up a dropped pen, taking off your jacket when you get home, getting your child to put on their shoes or even pulling the duvet back over you if it falls off in the night. For many people with physical disabilities and families that have a child with a condition on the autism spectrum, these tasks can be painful, difficult or even impossible.
Dogs for the Disabled is a life-changing charity creating exceptional partnerships between specially trained assistance dogs and children and adults living with physical disability, and families with a child with autism; providing independence and companionship. Dogs for the Disabled currently supports over 260 partnerships and teams across the UK, each one costing over £19,000 throughout its lifetime. The charity relies entirely on voluntary donations to carry out its work and there are hundreds more lives that could be transformed with your help.
